Cotton and canvas are great fabrics for this bag as the foam stabiliser gives the bag structure. More experienced sewists may want to give cork or vinyl a try. 

Whatever fabrics you decide to use, make sure they’re suitable for your sewing machine. For domestic machines, it’s usually best to stick with cotton, especially for your first bag.
