Legacy 70 is an ultra firm stabiliser, a non-fusible version of 71F (also known as Peltex). Ideal for bag making where a firm handle is required, such as in bases or wallet exteriors. It's smooth, heavyweight and can be fused to most fabrics. It's easy to sew, but we recommend keeping it out of your seam allowances to reduce bulk in the seams. It will not flatten out or be distorted with steam pressing. It has no grain and can be cut in any direction. If you need a fusible version or would prefer this product in white, check out our listing for 71F.

NOT HAPPY WITH SOMETHING?
It’s important to us that you’re happy with your purchase, but if for any reason you’re not happy with your products simply email us at shop@countrycowdesigns.com within 14 days of receiving your package and request a return. Or you can send us a Whatsapp message +447518142548. This is your “right of withdrawal”. Items must be returned at your expense, within 30 days of receipt for a full refund. We recommend that you obtain proof of postage or tracking when returning your items as we can’t guarantee receipt of your order.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. The simplest way to provide this is to reply to the original order confirmation email. To qualify for a refund, your products must be returned unused and in a re-saleable condition. Once we’ve inspected the returned items, we’ll refund you within 14 days. The refund will be processed to the same payment source used for purchase. In certain circumstances, we will only grant a partial refund. This includes where any item is not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error, or any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery.
When you cancel or return your order, we incur costs that are not refunded to us such as payment processing fees and postage costs. DAMAGED, FAULTY OR MISSING ITEMS?
If you think you’ve received an item that’s damaged, faulty, or otherwise incorrect, please contact us straight away by emailing us at shop@countrycowdesigns.com with a photo and description of the fault. We will get back to you within 48 hours to resolve the issue (usually quicker).
If we’ve sent you the wrong item, we’ll let you keep it at no cost, and we'll also send you the correct item.
If you believe an item is missing, please check the packaging thoroughly and unpack your entire order. We like to do our bit to help the planet and that means reducing packaging and space. To achieve this, we often roll items within each other. For example, if you’ve ordered 2 x 1 metre cuts of zip tape and 1 metre of webbing, we’ll roll them together in one bag. If your order is completely unpacked and you’re certain an item is missing, please email us at shop@countrycowdesigns.com.

Product: Sew-in Polyester Fabric Interfacing (also known as Non-Fusible Polyester Interfacing, Sew-in Stabilizer, Woven/Non-Woven Polyester Interfacing)
Intended Use: For use in sewing, quilting, and crafting projects to add structure, stability, body, and shape retention to fabrics. It is physically sewn into the project, not ironed on. Common applications include bag making, apparel (collars, cuffs, waistbands), and craft projects.
Target User: Adult consumers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced sewers and crafters.
Product Description: A fabric material made from 100% polyester fibres, designed to be sewn into a project alongside the main fabric. It provides varying degrees of stiffness, body, or drape depending on its weight and construction (e.g., woven, non-woven). Available in various weights (light, medium, heavy) and sometimes with slight stretch, to suit different project needs.
Hazards: Sew-in polyester fabric interfacing is generally a low-risk product. The primary hazards are related to its synthetic composition, the generation of lint, and potential for machine operational issues. This product is designed to be safe under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use, presenting only minimum risks compatible with its function as a textile material. Risks are primarily physical (fabric properties) and thermal (reaction to heat).
Fraying & Lint: Cutting and sewing polyester interfacing, especially non-woven types, can generate small fibers and lint. For individuals with respiratory sensitivities (e.g., asthma, allergies), inhaling excessive lint can cause respiratory irritation. Lint can also accumulate in sewing machines, requiring regular cleaning. Woven interfacing may also fray at cut edges.
Dust / Small Particles: Over time, fabric can shed small dust particles. While usually benign, for highly sensitive individuals, this could contribute to respiratory or eye irritation.
Melting & Burns (from Iron): Polyester is a thermoplastic material and will melt when exposed to high heat (e.g., from a hot iron set too high, heat gun, or open flame). Contact with molten material can cause severe thermal burns. Burning polyester can also produce irritating and potentially hazardous fumes. While not fused, you may still iron over it in a project.
Material Allergies / Sensitization: While polyester is generally considered hypoallergenic, some individuals may have sensitivities or allergic reactions to the synthetic fibers, dyes, or any finishes used in manufacturing. This could manifest as skin irritation upon prolonged contact.
Dye Transfer / Color Crocking: While typically white or neutral, if dyed versions are used, dyes can sometimes bleed or transfer to other fabrics, skin, or surfaces, especially when wet, exposed to high heat, or with excessive friction. While generally not a health hazard, it can cause staining of other materials.
Sewing Machine Strain / Needle Damage: Sewing through multiple layers of interfacing combined with fabric can significantly increase thickness. This can put excessive strain on domestic sewing machines, potentially leading to needle breakage, bent needles, skipped stitches, or damage to the machine's internal components. This is especially true for heavy-weight interfacings or when sewing through many layers.
Choking Hazard (for young children/vulnerable adults/pets): Small, cut scraps of interfacing, especially if improperly stored, could pose a choking risk if ingested by very young children or pets. This is a low likelihood risk if standard safety practices for crafting materials are followed.
To ensure the safe use of sew-in polyester fabric interfacing and minimize associated risks, adhere to the following recommendations:
Store Safely: Store interfacing in a clean, dry area, away from direct heat sources, open flames, and out of reach of young children and pets.
Clear Workspace: Maintain a clear, well-lit, and organized crafting area to prevent accidents.
Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area to minimize inhalation of fabric dust and lint, especially if you have respiratory sensitivities. Consider using a fan or working near an open window.
Dust Control: Regularly clean your sewing area and machine to remove accumulated fabric dust and lint. Using a vacuum with a HEPA filter can be beneficial.
Respiratory Protection (for sensitive individuals): If you have severe respiratory allergies or asthma and are working with large quantities of interfacing, consider wearing a simple dust mask to reduce lint inhalation.Sharp Tools: Use sharp fabric scissors or a rotary cutter with a self-healing mat for clean, precise cuts. Dull tools can lead to more fraying and uneven edges.
Needle Selection: Choose a heavy-duty needle (e.g., "Jeans" or "Denim" needle, size 90/14 or 100/16) in your sewing machine when sewing through multiple layers of interfacing and fabric, especially for medium to heavy weights.
Sewing Machine Settings: Adjust tension and presser foot pressure as needed to accommodate the extra layers. Consider using a walking foot attachment to help feed thick layers evenly and prevent shifting. Do not force the fabric through the machine; if it struggles, check your needle, tension, and consider a more powerful machine or hand-cranking for very thick sections.
Ironing (if applicable to project): If ironing over the interfacing (when it's already sewn into a project), use a low to medium heat setting appropriate for polyester. Always use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric/interfacing to prevent melting, scorching, or leaving an impression on the interfacing. Avoid direct contact with extremely hot surfaces or open flames, as the polyester will melt and can cause severe burns.
Pre-Shrinking (Optional): Some woven interfacings may benefit from pre-washing/pre-shrinking if the outer fabric will be washed, to prevent differential shrinkage in the finished project. Always test a small swatch first and follow manufacturer's instructions if provided.Washing Finished Projects: Follow care instructions for finished projects, which should align with the most delicate component (usually the main fabric). Most polyester interfacings are machine washable.
Safe Disposal of Scraps: Dispose of small fabric scraps in a secure container, out of reach of young children and pets, to prevent choking hazards.
---------------------------------------------------------
In case of accidents or injuries:
Respiratory Irritation (due to lint/dust): Move to a well-ventilated area or go outdoors for fresh air. If symptoms persist or worsen, or if breathing becomes difficult, seek medical attention.
Minor Burns (from iron/heat): Cool Immediately: Cool the burn rapidly with cool (not cold or ice) running water for at least 10-20 minutes. Do NOT Remove Melted Material: If any melted fabric is stuck to the skin, do not attempt to peel it off, as this can cause further tissue damage. Cool the area with the material still attached. Seek Medical Attention: For any thermal burn, especially if severe, blistering, covers a large area, or if melted material is firmly adhered to the skin, seek immediate medical attention.
Skin Irritation/Allergic Reaction: Discontinue contact with the product. Wash the affected skin thoroughly with mild soap and water. If irritation persists or worsens, consult a medical professional.
