Adam designed this messenger bag specifically for men as he feels there’s a shortage of men’s bag sewing patterns to choose from. But let’s be honest, change up the fabrics and you’ll have a bag that most people would love to be seen carrying! This large messenger bag is great for carrying a tablet, small computer, wallet and other necessities. It’s a neutral bag that can be dressed up or down depending on the fabrics you use. We recommend this as an advanced sewing pattern due to the curved zip, but we walk you through every step in the photo instructions and also in the video tutorial. You should have bag making experience before giving this a go.
Fabric Recommendations:
We love to use waxed canvas for the exterior of this bag, but the stabilisers instructed do allow for you to use other fabrics too. Other great fabric choices include cork, cotton, vinyl or leather. Whatever fabrics you decide to use, make sure they’re suitable for your sewing machine. For domestic machines, it’s usually best to stick with cotton, especially for your first bag.

This men’s bag sewing pattern is written using both imperial (inches) and metric (centimetres) measurements.
Included in the photos are bags made by our pattern testers. Please be aware that some of the testers have made small modifications to their bags. Instructions for these modifications are not included in the pattern but are simply there to provide ideas on how you could adapt the pattern if you want to.

I reduced it to 75 percent size, and it still came out perfectly!

The KEDEMOTH Messenger bag comes together so well. Follow the instructions. You’ll be thoroughly surprised with the skills you pick up when making a Country Cow bag. Every time!
But this particular bag has not only a large capacity for its size, but it is easy to use due to the pocket placements. No flap to contend with. Being able to unzip from each side and the width of the opening makes this the perfect bag for a college student, for work, on the go, for travel…etc. It is comfortable and sturdy all rolled into one.
Carry it on the side or as a crossbody since the strap is adjustable. Either way it’s ideal for men or woman depending on your choice of fabric. Just look at the pictures from the testers. I was able to fit a couple of packing cubes on mine, a book and accesories. All the essentials. Favorite design aspect, zipper placements. Easy access.
