RETURNS
NOT HAPPY WITH SOMETHING?
It’s important to us that you’re happy with your purchase, but if for any reason you’re not happy with your products simply email us at shop@countrycowdesigns.com within 14 days of receiving your package and request a return. Or you can send us a Whatsapp message +447518142548. This is your “right of withdrawal”. Items must be returned at your expense, within 30 days of receipt for a full refund. We recommend that you obtain proof of postage or tracking when returning your items as we can’t guarantee receipt of your order.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. The simplest way to provide this is to reply to the original order confirmation email. To qualify for a refund, your products must be returned unused and in a re-saleable condition. Once we’ve inspected the returned items, we’ll refund you within 14 days. The refund will be processed to the same payment source used for purchase. In certain circumstances, we will only grant a partial refund. This includes where any item is not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error, or any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery.
When you cancel or return your order, we incur costs that are not refunded to us such as payment processing fees and postage costs. As a small business, these costs negatively impact us so please check measurements and read product details thoroughly before purchasing. If you have any questions before ordering, feel free to send us an email.
If you haven’t received a refund when expected, we recommend contacting your bank or credit card provider. Please bear in mind, it can take several days for your bank to process the refund and show it in your account.
If you’ve done this and you still have not received your refund 7 working days after you were notified of your refund, please contact us.
DAMAGED, FAULTY OR MISSING ITEMS?
If you think you’ve received an item that’s damaged, faulty, or otherwise incorrect, please contact us straight away by emailing us at shop@countrycowdesigns.com with a photo and description of the fault. We will get back to you within 48 hours to resolve the issue (usually quicker).
If we’ve sent you the wrong item, we’ll let you keep it at no cost, and we'll also send you the correct item.
If you believe an item is missing, please check the packaging thoroughly and unpack your entire order. We like to do our bit to help the planet and that means reducing packaging and space. To achieve this, we often roll items within each other. For example, if you’ve ordered 2 x 1 metre cuts of zip tape and 1 metre of webbing, we’ll roll them together in one bag. If your order is completely unpacked and you’re certain an item is missing, please email us at shop@countrycowdesigns.com.

IMPORTANT PRODUCT SAFETY INFORMATION
Product Name: Polyester Stretch Mesh Fabric
Intended Use: Primarily for bag making projects (e.g., pockets, lining), activewear, apparel (e.g., lining, breathable panels), and other sewing projects where breathability, stretch, and light weight are desired. Not typically used for traditional quilting due to its stretch properties.
Target User: Adult consumers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced sewers and crafters.
Product Description: A synthetic fabric typically made from 100% polyester fibres, characterized by its open, net-like structure (mesh), and inherent stretch. It is lightweight, breathable, and often quick-drying. Available in various hole sizes, weights, and colours.Hazards: While polyester stretch mesh fabric is generally a low-risk product, certain hazards can arise, particularly related to its synthetic composition, open weave, and stretchy nature. This product is designed to be safe under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use, presenting only minimum risks compatible with its function as a textile material. Risks are primarily related to flammability, thermal properties, and its specific fabric structure.
- Melting & Burns: Polyester is a thermoplastic material and will melt when exposed to high heat (e.g., from a hot iron, heat gun, open flame, or intense friction). Contact with molten material can cause severe thermal burns. Burning polyester can also produce irritating and potentially hazardous fumes. The open mesh structure may allow heat to transfer more quickly. If you experience Minor Burns (from iron/heat): Cool Immediately: Cool the burn rapidly with cool (not cold or ice) running water for at least 10-20 minutes. Do NOT Remove Molten Material: Do not attempt to peel off any melted fabric stuck to the skin, as this can cause further tissue damage. Seek Medical Attention: For any thermal burn, especially if severe or covering a large area, seek immediate medical attention.
- Fraying & Runs/Ladders: Due to its knitted or open-weave structure, polyester stretch mesh can fray significantly when cut. It may also be prone to runs or ladders (like hosiery) if snagged or if a thread breaks, leading to material degradation. Loose threads can also tangle in sewing machine mechanisms.
- Snagging: The open mesh structure makes the fabric prone to snagging on sharp objects (e.g., jewelry, rough surfaces, broken needles), which can cause runs or damage the fabric.
- Small Fabric Fragments/Lint: Cutting and sewing mesh fabric can produce small, fine fabric fragments and lint. For individuals with respiratory sensitivities (e.g., asthma, allergies), inhaling excessive lint can cause respiratory irritation. These fine particles can also accumulate in sewing machines. If you experience Respiratory Irritation (due to lint/dust): Move to a well-ventilated area or go outdoors for fresh air. If symptoms persist or worsen, or if breathing becomes difficult, seek medical attention.
- Material Allergies/Sensitization: While polyester is generally considered hypoallergenic, some individuals may have sensitivities or allergic reactions to the synthetic fibres, dyes, or finishes used in manufacturing. This could manifest as skin irritation upon prolonged contact. If you experience Skin Irritation/Allergic Reaction, Discontinue contact with the fabric. Wash the affected skin thoroughly with mild soap and water. If irritation persists or worsens, consult a medical professional.
- Dye Transfer / Colour Crocking: Dyes used in polyester mesh fabrics can sometimes bleed or transfer to other fabrics, skin, or surfaces, especially when wet, exposed to high heat, or with excessive friction. This is more common with highly saturated or dark colors. While generally not a health hazard, it can cause staining of other materials.
- Sewing Difficulty / Machine Issues: The stretchiness and open weave of mesh can make it challenging to sew. It may stretch or distort during stitching, leading to puckering. It can also be pulled into the needle plate opening or caught by the feed dogs if not properly supported, potentially causing machine jams or damage (e.g., bent needles).
- Choking Hazard (for young children/vulnerable adults/pets): Small, cut scraps of fabric, especially if improperly stored, could pose a choking risk if ingested by very young children or pets. This is a low likelihood risk if standard safety practices for crafting materials are followed.
-----------------------------------------------------
To ensure the safe use of polyester stretch mesh fabric and minimize associated risks, adhere to the following recommendations:
- Store Safely: Store fabrics in a clean, dry area, away from direct heat sources, open flames, and out of reach of young children and pets.
- Clear Workspace: Maintain a clear, well-lit, and organized crafting area to prevent accidents.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area to minimize inhalation of fabric dust and lint, especially if you have respiratory sensitivities. Consider using a fan or working near an open window. Dust Control: Regularly clean your sewing area and machine to remove accumulated fabric dust and lint. Using a vacuum with a HEPA filter can be beneficial.
- Sharp Tools: Use sharp fabric scissors or a rotary cutter with a self-healing mat for clean, precise cuts. Dull tools can lead to more fraying and snagging. Consider using a rotary cutter for cleaner edges than scissors.
- Fray Prevention: Due to its construction, polyester stretch mesh can fray and run. Make sure the edges of the fabric are sewn into seams to prevent fraying. Finish raw edges with a serger/overlocker, a zig-zag stitch on a sewing machine, or bind edges with bias tape to prevent fraying and runs. Heat sealing is generally not recommended for mesh due to the open structure and risk of melting/distortion.
- Needle Selection: Use a ballpoint or stretch needle in your sewing machine. These needles have a rounded tip that pushes fabric fibers apart rather than piercing them, preventing damage to the knit structure and reducing skipped stitches.
- Sewing Machine Settings: Use a walking foot attachment to help feed the stretchy fabric evenly and prevent distortion. Use a stretch stitch or a narrow zig-zag stitch (e.g., 0.5-1.0mm width, 2.0-3.0mm length) to allow the seam to stretch without breaking. Adjust tension and presser foot pressure as needed to avoid stretching or puckering.
- Ironing/Heat Application: Polyester mesh can be sensitive to heat. Use a low to medium heat setting on your iron. Always use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric to prevent melting, scorching, or leaving an impression of the iron on the mesh. Avoid direct contact with extremely hot surfaces or open flames, as the fabric will melt and can cause severe burns.
- Dye Fastness Testing: If concerned about dye transfer, especially with light-coloured fabrics or items that will be frequently washed, perform a patch test on an inconspicuous area. Dampen a small piece of mesh and press it against a scrap of your main fabric to check for bleeding.
- Snag Prevention: Be mindful of jewellery, sharp nails, or rough surfaces that could snag the fabric while working.
- Washing Finished Projects: Follow care instructions for finished projects, typically cool wash, gentle cycle, and air dry or tumble dry low. Excessive heat during washing/drying can damage the fabric.
Safe Disposal of Scraps: Dispose of small fabric scraps in a secure container, out of reach of young children and pets, to prevent choking hazards.
