Due to the thickness and stiffness of this waxed canvas, it is difficult to fold large cuts. For this reason, we pre-cut it in 50cm lengths by the full width of 145cm (58"). If you purchase more than one, it will NOT be cut continuously. Fabric will be folded when shipped, not rolled. Photos may include other fabrics, hardware, or finished bags as examples. This listing is for waxed canvas only. 

The *Imperfect Seconds* Hot Pink canvas has small black marks in places. You may be able to cut around these for the most part and they should be less noticeable once the fabric is creased and crinkled into a bag, but we have discounted it by 10% to account for the imperfections.

This waxed canvas (also known as oilskin) is lovely quality 100% cotton with a wax coating. This fabric is kind of "rough and ready", with creases and marks being part of it's character. Don't expect a completely flat and perfect looking surface, that's not the idea with waxed canvas. Instead, it provides character.

This 500gsm (12oz) canvas will be suitable for some, but not all, domestic sewing machines. If your sewing machine can handle canvas, cork or faux leather then it will usually be ok with this. This thick canvas has a visible weave. When your fabric arrives you will notice that it's very stiff, almost card-board like in feel. As you construct your bag and move the fabric, it will become softer and more malleable, developing creases and a beautiful patina.

The fabric weights are referred to as GSM: Grams per square metre and Oz: Ounces per square yard.

The fabric is waxed to create a water resistant finish. However, it is not 100% waterproof.

When creased, folded or moved, the wax marks, creating a beautiful patina as the bag is used. Due to the wax in the fabric, we don't recommend washing or ironing it. You don't need to interface it, although depending on the pattern and the desired shape and structure of the bag, you may need to use a stabiliser, but it's generally not required due to the thick and structured shape of this fabric. If you do decide to use a stabiliser with it, we recommend using a sew-in stabiliser or fusing your stabiliser to the lining pieces instead (where possible in the pattern). This fabric cannot handle the heat.

I like to use a universal or Microtex size 90 needle. However, this will differ depending on the sewing machine, the thickness and type of thread, and the other fabrics you're sewing with.

Over time, the wax will wear. You can re-wax your fabric many times over the years to keep it protected and water resistant. The wax shouldn't transfer to your clothes when using the fabric but in high temperatures we don't recommend leaving it in hot spaces such as cars as your wax will reset and your beautiful creases will disappear.

USA Customers: Fixed cost shipping at £8 ($10) for orders under £75 ($90). Royal Mail Tracked (1-2 weeks).

EU Customers: We are unable to sell physical products to customers located in the EU through our website. If you're located in the EU, please use our Etsy shop. This will ensure the necessary taxes are collected before checkout and your order won't get delayed or charged when entering your country. Shipping is not available to Germany.

Other Countries (Canada, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, New Zealand): Fixed cost shipping at £10. Royal Mail International (tracked where available, 1-3 weeks). For other countries, please email us at and we'll see if we can help.

It’s important to us that you’re happy with your purchase, but if for any reason you’re not happy with your products simply email us at within 14 days of receiving your package and request a return. Or you can send us a Whatsapp message +447518142548. This is your “right of withdrawal”. Items must be returned at your expense, within 30 days of receipt for a full refund. We recommend that you obtain proof of postage or tracking when returning your items as we can’t guarantee receipt of your order.

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. The simplest way to provide this is to reply to the original order confirmation email. To qualify for a refund, your products must be returned unused and in a re-saleable condition. Once we’ve inspected the returned items, we’ll refund you within 14 days. The refund will be processed to the same payment source used for purchase. In certain circumstances, we will only grant a partial refund. This includes where any item is not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error, or any item that is returned more than 30 days after delivery. 

When you cancel or return your order, we incur costs that are not refunded to us such as payment processing fees and postage costs. As a small business, these costs negatively impact us so please check measurements and read product details thoroughly before purchasing. If you haven’t received a refund when expected, we recommend contacting your bank or credit card provider. Please bear in mind, it can take several days for your bank to process the refund and show it in your account.
If you’ve done this and you still have not received your refund 7 working days after you were notified of your refund, please contact us.

If you think you’ve received an item that’s damaged, faulty, or otherwise incorrect, please contact us straight away by emailing us at with a photo and description of the fault. We will get back to you within 48 hours to resolve the issue (usually quicker). 

If we’ve sent you the wrong item, we’ll let you keep it at no cost, and we'll also send you the correct item. 

If you believe an item is missing, please check the packaging thoroughly and unpack your entire order. We like to do our bit to help the planet and that means reducing packaging and space. To achieve this, we often roll items within each other. For example, if you’ve ordered 2 x 1 metre cuts of zip tape and 1 metre of webbing, we’ll roll them together in one bag. In no event shall Country Cow Designs or its directors be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages to property or life, whatsoever arising out of or connected with the use or misuse of our products.
