What’s special about this sewing pattern?
The Avalow Tote is a large tote with lots of little pockets to keep your bits organised. Inside it has stretch mesh bottle pockets as well as a zip pocket and on the exterior it features 3 flap pockets and a zip pocket. This tote has a luxurious look and is a fun sewing project. The word Avalow means apple in Cornish.

Olivia customised her bag by using swivel hooks and D-rings on the flap. She also changed out the top for a zip closure. We love how it looks! But please note the swivel hooks and zip options are NOT included in the pattern instructions.

Supplies Required to make this bag:

Fabrics & Stabilisers

– 20″ [51cm] of No.5 size zip tape and two zip pulls

– 1/2m [1/2 yd] of Exterior fabric

– 3/4m [3/4 yd] of Lining fabric

– Medium woven interfacing (enough for cotton fabrics you’re using)

– 8cm x 50cm [3″ x 19″] of Decovil light or similar stabiliser

– 44cm [17″] of Sew-in foam stabiliser

– 210cm [82″] of 38mm [1 1/2″] Wide webbing

Hardware:

– 2 x Magnetic snaps (increase to 6 if not using buttons for flap closures)

– 2 x 25mm [1″] D-rings

– 2 x 38mm [1 1/2″] Swivel hooks

– 1 x 38mm [1 1/2″] Strap slider

Optional Extras:

– 21cm x 46cm [8″ x 18″] Stretch mesh fabric (optional for bottle pockets)

– 32cm [12 1/4″] x 12mm [1/2″] Fold-over elastic (optional for bottle pockets)

– 40cm [16″] x 5mm [3/16″] Piping cord (optional for grab handles)

– 92cm [36″] x 2mm [1/16″] Elastic cord (only if using buttons for flap closures)
