CHALLENGE NOW CLOSED and the winner is Magslang on Instagram with her beautiful bag pictured below.
Here we go! Our first challenge for the mailing list. Are you ready? This challenge is for you if:
- You own more fabric than you can possibly use
- You want to win even more gorgeous fabric
- Your family have commented more than once on your fabric buying obsession
- You know there’s some lovely fabrics in that stash but you’re missing out on using them
So what is the challenge for November and what’s the PRIZE?
- Make a bag using a fabric that you’ve owned and had sat in your stash for AT LEAST a year! If you’re thinking “I don’t have any fabric that I’ve owned for more than a year….” then you must have started sewing within the last 12 months, in which case your challenge is to use fabric you’ve had the longest. Go to your fabric stash and have a good search through. Find that fabric that you fell in love with when you saw it all that time ago, and get ready to make an amazing bag with it!
- Complete your bag before the end of November. Share it on social media using the hashtag #countrycowchallenge (this works for all the social medias, even Pinterest). At the end of the month we can all check out the tag on social media and see the inspiring makes you’ve all made. If you aren’t on social media, you can enter by emailing your photo to countrycowdesigns@gmail.com.
- We’ll choose one winner at random who will win some gorgeous fabric from our stash! That may sound a bit counterproductive to you defeating your stash, but these are some pretty special fabrics – Blooming splash canvas from Blended Threads, pre-interfaced for you AND beautiful deep purple waxed canvas from Sun Kiss Melbourne. That’s a pretty great prize for any fabric lover!
We’ll also share a few of your makes in the first newsletter of December.
Terms & conditions:
- Open for entries worldwide, provided Royal Mail deliver to your country
- To qualify for entry, a photo of your finished bag must be put on social media using the tag #countrycowchallenge by 31st November 2022 or emailed to us at countrycowdesigns@gmail.com
- The bag must have been made within November 2022
- Winner will be chosen at random
- Prize consists of 1/2m of canvas, already interfaced and 1/2m of waxed canvas

Hi Jo
Is this any pattern or just country cow patterns?
Any pattern you like, from any designer, or even your own design! ๐
This is very exciting! Hope I get the time to make a bag for myself (I only keep secret fabrics for myself)
A brilliant plan! But I fear my secret stash would end up being huge ๐
Oh my, I have fabrics that are older than my kids! ๐คฃ
This one is definitely for you ๐
Me too! And my kids are getting old!!
I just cut fabric I’ve had for over 5 year’s for this challenge!!
It is possible one tweed jacket may or may not have been ahem “sacrificed” ๐๐๐ to make the bag also!! ๐คซ๐คซ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Ooh can’t wait to see the result!
Thank you for organising this challenge! It pushed me to finally try one of your lovely patterns and not just plan the possible combinations in my head ๐ I could also give life to some of the fabric I purchased prior to discovering designer fabrics and Spoonflower ๐ The bag is far from being perfect, but it also means I get to keep it for myself ๐
Hi Jo, I’m afraid I am the only one who have posted the photos on my Facebook page. I have used upholstery samples and my husband’s old jeans to make three crossbody bags. Hope you like them. I have been learning how to make bags for almost a year mainly from your YT channel since I like your style. I am Polish and for me it is also great opportunity to practice English. Huge THANK YOU.
