{"id":24494,"date":"2022-11-25T06:30:25","date_gmt":"2022-11-25T05:30:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/countrycowdesigns.com\/?p=24494"},"modified":"2025-01-29T12:55:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T12:55:26","slug":"sedron-alternative-front-panel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/countrycowdesigns.com\/blog\/sedron-alternative-front-panel\/","title":{"rendered":"Sedron Alternative Front Panel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw an amazing Sedron backpack made by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/1021271552055278\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nichole Rae on Facebook.<\/a> It featured a much simpler, sophisticated looking front panel.<\/p>\n<p>I was scheduled to sew a strike sew* for Blended Threads and instantly knew this was what I wanted to do with the vinyl sample I was receiving. I combined the Blended Threads vinyl with some Mora Faux Leather#\u00a0and voila!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to do the same, I&#8217;ve included instructions below for the changes you need to make to the original pattern. You can buy the <a href=\"https:\/\/countrycowdesigns.com\/product\/sedron\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Sedron pattern here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/blendedthread.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blended Threads vinyl<\/a> is available for pre-order from 21<sup>st<\/sup>-25<sup>th<\/sup> November 2022.<\/p>\n<h4>To create this front panel for the Sedron backpack, you need to do the following:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Don&#8217;t cut the cargo pocket pieces (B, C, I, J}<\/li>\n<li>Cut the top piece (white floral in my photo) at 10 5\/8&#8243; [27cm] tall by the width of the main panel piece (pattern piece A)<\/li>\n<li>Cut the bottom piece (tan faux leather in my photo) at 6 5\/8&#8243; [17cm] tall by the width of the main panel piece (pattern piece A)<\/li>\n<li>Sew together with 3\/8&#8243; [1cm] seam allowance<\/li>\n<li>Press the seam open and topstitch both sides of the seam<\/li>\n<li>Use the main panel pattern piece (A) to trim the corners so it matches the shape of the back panel<\/li>\n<li>Skip step 4 of the instructions where you would have created the cargo pocket<\/li>\n<li>When you attach the gusset to the front panel in step 11 of the pattern, make sure the gusset matches the seam on the front panel. But remember that this will change with the 3\/8&#8243; [1cm] seam allowance so you need to bear that in mind when lining it up. Try clipping it in place with the seam allowance before you sew it, so you can check the placement is accurate<\/li>\n<li>For this example, I also quilted the back panel to foam, but bear in mind that this makes it difficult to fit the back zip pocket as it makes the pocket facing very bulky<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/countrycowdesigns.com\/product\/sedron\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
